Our Classes
Ages 1 and under need to have a parent stay with them (whether that’s in the nursery, or if you choose to take the child around with you). For ages 2 and under, we will have nursery volunteers to watch your kids. We have background checks on all adults attending MBCA. We have two wonderful spaces for babies and toddlers, with baby beds, changing tables, toys, etc.

This class is designed to help your child learn and experience God’s Word in a way that is fun and meaningful. We will be going through a Bible story each week from the Old Testament starting with Creation and ending with Esther. This class will include a combination of dye-free themed snacks, a sensory station, songs, activities, and crafts that go along with the Bible story.

This class will be an exciting and creative experience. We’ll explore a variety of subjects in engaging and interactive ways. Be prepared to get a little messy and have lots of fun!

In this class, each week the kids will learn about a different animal, and we’ll talk about the animal’s life, abilities, discover interesting facts, and do a simple craft that correlates to that animal.

Students will watch “Leap Frog Letter Factory”, participate in craft activities, and develop phonics skills in order to begin reading. We will work on vowel and consonant sounds and focus on a new letter each week in conjunction with a craft.

TinkerLab is an open-ended invitation to tinker and create. Each week, students will have access to various materials to explore and create a project with. Projects may be individual, collaborative, prompted, or inspired by one’s own imagination.

We will learn about a variety of subjects that we encounter in our surroundings: holidays, animals, people, and more!

In this class, we will strive to deepen our understanding of the nine character traits listed in Galatians 5:22-23 as the “Fruit of the Holy Spirit” (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control), and explore how to actively cultivate these qualities in our daily lives to become more Christ-like. A different craft and fruit/snack will be provided each week.

Students will work on flexibility, rhythm, showmanship, and dance technique (turns, foot placement, leaps). Girls pink ballet shoes are required (preferably split sole). They will also need to wear leggings, bike shorts, or leotards with tights. They will also need to wear a short-sleeved t-shirt or tank top. Boys can wear black ballet shoes.
Music used in class will be hymns, instrumental music, or contemporary Christian. Fee: $0
This will be conversational Spanish for beginners (introuduction, greetings)

This will be a class for stem-based building using prompts and “mystery” materials.

In this class, we will hone our scissor skills, while creating beautiful cards to send to loved ones and to organizations of our choosing. We will explore different techniques like paper making, printing, and other methods.

Reducing the class size will allow us to make more variety of foods and we will divide into groups for different tasks each week. We’re opening the class to a larger age group to hopefully integrate some peer modeling/peer-to-peer assistance. This is a list of the foods we will make this semester, in no particular order:

In this class, we will use a variety of mediums and materials, such as clay, paper, yarn, and watercolor to create different crafts and art that students will take home. This will be a fun class for all skill levels. All students will be encouraged to take their time when creating projects.

In flag football, we will be learning the basics of flag football. We will run drills and learn how to play the game. This year, we will also be playing competitive games against the Navigators Homeschool Co-op (based in Spanish Fort). Once a month, we will meet in either Spanish Fort, Fairhope, or Saraland to compete against the Navigators (around 4 games per semester). Sometimes the games will be on our campus; sometimes it will be on theirs. Students will need a mouth guard and a water bottle. The fee will go to buying equipment and possibly jerseys.

We will explore the ancient world from the pyramids of Egypt to the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, and from the Spartans to Attila the Hun. Each week, we will bring ancient history to life!
You will need “The Story of the World, Vol. 1” book, so you can read and be ready to discuss in class each week. We will do activities to bring the stories to life. Students can earn tickets for class participation and homework completed. At the end of the semester, there’ll be a store where students can spend their tickets.

In this class, students can test their R/C car driving skills against other students while exploring science, math, and physics in a fun way. We will be building ramps, measuring speed, distance, time, and much more. Students will also be learning mechanics as the r/c cars have many of the same components or larger vehicles–just scaled down. Students are required to bring their own car with a charged battery. This class will be at the baseball field. If you don’t feel comfortable with your child walking through the parking lot unattended, please do not put them in this class.

For this class, we will focus on the basics of communication, public speaking, and structuring an argument. Students will be assigned topics and positions and will need to research, structure, and present their arguments to the rest of the class.

**DISCLAIMER: We will be making fires, using tools such as knives or hatchets, moving and lifting large branches, and learning real thing that can, at times, be dangerous. Please consider discussing this class with your child before signing them up. Make sure they feel that they will be able to stay focused, follow directions, and respond appropriately when asked to do something. This will help keep them and other safe. If I feel that any of the children aren’t able to focus, follow directions or respond appropriately when asked to do something, for the safety of others, I will discuss with the parents about switching them do a different class. We will spend some of the class time in the woods beside the church, and thus may encounter insects or other animals that live in the woods. We will have adult supervision at all times.
This is going to be a fun, exciting, hands-on class! This class will provide students with the ability to survive in the wilderness if they are suddenly lost. We will focus on several different skills: building shelters, tying knots, compass reading, fire building, water purification, and more. We will also learn about protection from hypothermia, sunburn, animals, and poisonous plants, and wilderness first aid. After the students have mastered some of their new skills, we are hoping to possibly have some small competitions for them to demonstrate what they have learned. I will also have the students work together as a team to accomplish a common goal. This will demonstrate good work ethic and cooperation. All students need to wear closed toe shoes to the class.
