We will gently draw from the teacher guide in class to guide our discussions.
Course Description:
This class is designed to be a welcoming and enjoyable introduction to poetry and short stories. We will gather together each week to read beautiful literature, sip a variety of teas, and grow in our appreciation of language and storytelling.
As we read, students will be invited into thoughtful, guided conversations using questions from the logic and rhetoric sections of the teacher guide. Our goal is not only to understand the readings, but to enjoy them and learn to express our ideas with confidence.
To celebrate what they’ve learned, each student will choose a favorite poem or passage to memorize and share at our end-of-semester Tea Party—a special time to gather, recite, and enjoy one another’s work.
You may use this link to purchase a copy of the reader and the optional teacher and student guides.
